Sena Momentum Lite Bluetooth Motorcycle Helmet Review: Not So Lite After All

Let me start off by saying the Sena Momentum Lite is one of the most comfortable helmets I’ve worn in recent years. Nevermind the impressive amount of technology built into it; I would fully recommend this bluetooth motorcycle helmet purely based on comfort.

Now add on top of that the connectivity features that not only allow you to listen to the radio or even your own music straight from your Bluetooth device, but also allow for seamless communications with other riders.

It is essentially a completely wireless media center you can take everywhere you ride. Going on rides with your friends has never been a better experience.

Things to Love About This Full Face Helmet

Simply connect the Sena Smartphone App and you’re ready to go. Now let’s look at one of the ‘lighter’ helmets of the Sena’s family of integrated helmets, the Sena Unisex Full Face Momentum Lite Helmet review.

Composite fiberglass shell

Aerodynamically designed, this fiberglass composite shell will keep you safe while giving you maximum performance.

The fiberglass composite shell is designed to shatter, evenly distributing the force of impact upon collision so that you get minimal trauma and injury. It has been proven to be effective during collisions.

Removable and washable interior

The interior uses quick drying liners to prevent sweat from sticking onto the material and causing a foul odour. Removable and washable, you can guarantee to keep it clean and hygienic.

Top and Chin vents with rear exhaust

This is a classic for most of Sena’s full-faced helmets. Top and chin vents allow for smooth airflow from the front to the back of the helmet, keeping your head cool.

The rear exhaust pumps out warm air from inside the helmet, further maximizing the cool environment and promote optimal breathing, which is rare for a full faced helmet.

Pinlock ready shield

Pinlock’s anti-fog technology prevents your shields from fogging up and impairing your vision while you ride. UV and scratch resistant visor further prevent vision impairment and keeps you safe.

Safe and secure

The strong Double D-ring is one of the securest on the market, along with extra strong chin strap, multi-density EPS, neck roll, and the reflective safety patch helping you to remain visible even at night.

Bluetooth 4.1

Let’s talk real specs for a second so all you tech enthusiasts out there know exactly what you’re getting. The Sena Momentum Lite features 4.1 Bluetooth technology running on a built-in SBC codec. With this helmet you can multitask while you ride.

Connect any of your Bluetooth compatible devices such as your phone, GPS, or MP3 player seamlessly. This will enable you to have hands free functions, so nothing distracts you while you ride.

Have your GPS speak to you and direct you without having to look at your phone.

Or if you’re just like me and you have to listen to music or podcasts while you ride? The Sena Momentum Lite makes it possible.

It runs an advanced audio distribution profile (A2DP) that together with the perfectly positioned speakers and the integrated Advanced Noise Control technology that Sena is known for creates a beautiful sound profile even at the highest speeds.

Advanced noise control

Road and wind noise are a thing of the past, which is also extremely helpful when making use of the HD voice group intercom, which boasts an impressive range of up to 1 mile (1.6km) in open terrain.

That way whether you’re going on tour, or just want to have seamless and effortless communication while wearing your helmet, it is all possible.

All of this technology is beautifully integrated into the helmet so you will never have to fiddle with wires or worry about yanking at the wrong one. You won’t even notice it’s there.

It all comes in the helmet

One more thing I love about this helmet is that there are no loose parts. To charge the helmet, simply attach the whole thing and charge it with a micro-usb cable.

You also only have to charge it for 2.5 hours and you get talk time of up to 27 hours!

Top Things to note

It’s one of the few helmets that offer a four-way seamless communication, and a good battery life of around 27 hours. The advanced noise control feature is welcome too, something you would want from a full face helmet. The Sena unisex helmet does it all, without adding in significant more weight.

Verdict

For some people it might be a concern that Sena downgraded the intercom size in this Lite version from 8 to 4, but personally I much prefer the improved battery life of an additional 7 hours.

This upgrade boosts the talking time of the Sena Momentum Lite to an impressive 27 hours while only requiring 2.5 hours to fully charge. This way you are always prepared to hit the road.

Not to mention all these features are built into one of Sena’s classic full-faced helmets which are known for its safety and comfortability. Talk about value!
