Why Wear a Half-Shell Motorcycle Helmet?

When we buy a helmet what’s the first thing that comes to mind?

A fully enclosed shell that offers great coverage and protection. However, it may not always be the ideal choice. Let me tell you why.

One obvious reason is that a half helmet gives you more flexibility. It is a great option for claustrophobic people who cannot wear a full-face helmet. If you’re traveling in a group, then a full helmet can make it difficult to communicate with the rest of them. A half-helmet, on the contrary, makes the journey a lot more fun (and safe!).

Also, in comparison to a full-faced helmet, these helmets are quite lightweight. A half-size motorcycle helmet is on the cheaper side as the material used is less than in the case of a full-face helmet. Okay, some half helmets make you look like a mushroom (no kidding). But this helmet by Bell gives you a badass look with the additional muzzle locking feature. That’s not all. There are many other features too, let’s check them out in the next section.

Features

Bell had one goal when they manufactured their new half helmet, the ‘Rogue’–create a lightweight yet super comfortable helmet. After looking at it, I must say that they have achieved this goal with yet another stylish helmet. Discussed below are the features of this new helmet by Bell.

Helmet Style: Half Shell helmet

Shell Type: Lightweight, Composite Shell

Description

To all the Star Wars fans, this helmet lets you look like one badass stormtrooper. The Rogue combines style and safety to give you one badass helmet and help you stand out from the crowd. You get the look of a half helmet but the comfort of a 3/4th helmet thanks to the additional muzzle lock. The muzzle is adjustable and removable if you wish to let loose. The Rogue protects riders from the elements and offers exceptional comfort.

With the composite shell and plush interior, you get the perfect combination to survive a long day on the road. If that was not enough, Bell took a step further by adding convenient speaker pockets to add a communications system. The internal anti-microbial and anti-bacterial padding are completely removable and washable.

Pros and Cons

No helmet is perfect, but the Rogue by Bell comes quite close to that. Some of the things that I liked and disliked about the helmet are,

Now, there is plenty to like about this product – here are a few things worth a mention.

  • Adjustable Muzzle and FidLock Technology

The Rogue was designed for cruiser riders who don’t like being trapped behind a full helmet. So, Bell came up with a solution in the form of an adjustable muzzle. It also has a removable liner making it very practical.

The outer shell of the muzzle is hard, flexible polyurethane and the inner part is lined with a soft liner allowing the muzzle to fit snugly on your face. The practicality and sleek design make the Rogue one of the best helmets in the market.

  • Many Options

When it comes to the Rogue, bikers get a plethora of options to create customized designs. Although You’ll get several colors you can add cool embellishments to your helmet to make it stand out. You can choose to customize the muzzle and the shell or select from the two.

  • Fiberglass Composite Shell

The fusion of glass fiber in the helmet’s structure gives it the ability to be lighter without compromising its durability. It is one of the leading components used by helmet manufacturers around the world.

Dislikes:

  • Can sometimes Feel Uncomfortable

You may not like the fit. People have different preferences, after all. The snug fit with the muzzle attached may irritate at first but with the time you get used to it. If it still feels uncomfortable after some time, you should try readjusting the muzzle straps. Once you’ve adjusted the straps appropriately, you will be able to simply slide on the helmet like a regular helmet (with the muzzle on!).

The Verdict

Without wasting any more time, here’s my opinion of the Bell Rogue Motorcycle Helmet:

This Rogue by Bell is a sophisticated motorcycle helmet and is very comfortable with its leather interior. The washable nature of the cloth lining the interior of this helmet is a smart addition by Bell. Based on the stunning look and unbelievable strength of this helmet, I’d recommend the Rogue if a full-face helmet is not your type.
